Hellenic Community - Lyon - Consulate of Greece

The Hellenic Community of Lyon and the surrounding area was founded in 1929 by Greek nationals from Greece and Asia Minor who had come to France during the Greek-Turkish conflicts. The aim was to safeguard their religion and culture and provide a meeting place for exiled Greeks.

It was in 1947 that it was decided to build a church in Lyon, which had become their city of hospitality.
